SOMATIC  MOVEMENT  THERAPY

about Leyla

My work is informed by my training in SomaSoul® Somatic Therapy through the Leven Institute for Expressive Movement. I am also a Certified Shake Your Soul® Teacher and currently an RSMT/E Candidate — Registered Somatic Movement Therapist/Educator.

Somatic Movement Therapy is a body-centered approach that explores how emotions are experienced through sensation, movement, breath, the nervous system, and the body.

Rather than working only through verbal narrative, it invites deeper listening to the body’s emotional experience through practices such as mindful movement, body awareness, contemplative practice, drawing, journaling, voice, and creative expression.

CODEX OF THE LUMEN ECHOMEDICINE

The Codex of Lumen EchoMedicine is a mythic story about a Queen who has lost touch with parts of herself and begins a journey to remember who she is. Along the way, she encounters the Traveler, her inner child, the Oracle, the Tree, Pachamama, ancestral voices, and other symbolic figures and places that reflect different parts of her inner world.

The story explores what happens when we protect ourselves so deeply that we lose touch with our own voice, desire, vulnerability, and sense of belonging. Through the Queen’s journey, the Codex moves through themes of inner-child healing, love, fear, self-abandonment, lineage, embodiment, creativity, grief, and the courage to become more fully yourself.

Music, poetry, sound, and somatic themes are woven throughout the story, creating a world where healing is not presented as a set of instructions, but as something lived, felt, remembered, and embodied.
